Carolyn Desrochers presented her Master Thesis work on April 26th, 2013 at Villanova University. Carolyn's thesis focused on examination of heavy metal leaching from 100% coal combustion fly ash concrete. Carolyn was co-advised by Dr. Brian Chaplin @VU and Dr. Aleksandra Radlinska @PSU. From Carolyn: "I really enjoyed my research experience at Villanova University on Heavy Metal Leaching of 100% Coal Combustion Fly Ash concrete. Though I entered graduate school with a background in structural engineering, my research provided me with experience in both material and environmental engineering. I most enjoyed how my research related to the industry, how this one waste material could yield so many benefits through its reuse. I am looking forward to the future, seeing coal combustion fly ash incorporated more and more into concrete products." |
